Both of Rhode Island's Democratic congressman easily defeated challengers in their respective primaries on Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. David Cicilline, who represents the 1st District, defeated Christopher Young with 68 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results. Cicilline is seeking a fourth term in Congress. He cast his ballot in Providence this morning.

Cicilline will face Republican Russell Taub in November.

U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin, representing the 2nd District, turned back two Democratic challengers. According to unofficial results, he garnered 64 percent of the vote. Business owner Steven Archer had 19 percent and former state Rep. John Hamilton had 17 percent.

"I am more passionate and enthusiastic about serving Rhode Island than ever before, and this victory will reinvigorate me as I work hard for every vote in the General Election. I take nothing for granted, and I will be campaigning vigorously over the next 56 days," Langevin said in statement emailed to NBC 10 News.

Langevin will face Republican Rhue Reis and independents Salvatore Caiozzo and Jeffrey Johnson in the fall election.

There is no U.S. Senate race in Rhode Island this year.
