PROVIDENCE- Clean Water Action is pleased to announce its endorsement of US Congressman David Cicilline in the primary election on Tuesday, September 13th.

Since 2014, Congressman Cicilline has worked diligently to help prepare Rhode Island’s communities and coastline for the worsening effects of climate change. He has also opposed opening up New England’s coastline to fossil fuel drilling and secure resources to shore up water and wastewater infrastructure and clean up brownfields across the state.

In addition, he received a score of 100% on Clean Water Action’s 2013-2014 National Legislative Scorecard for his staunch opposition to efforts to undermine the Clean Water Act, roll back safeguards for public health, and weaken carbon emissions regulations. 

“During his time in US House of Representatives, Congressman Cicilline has proven himself to be a champion for our environment at both the state and national level,” said Johnathan Berard, Clean Water Action’s Rhode Island State Director. “He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to protecting our oceans and waterways, improving public health protections, promoting renewable energy generation, and supporting open space and the national park system. Clean Water Action is delighted to endorse Congressman Cicilline for Rhode Island’s First Congressional District seat.”
