Cicilline Statement on New NAFTA Proposal

Monday, October 1, 2018

PAWTUCKET – Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC) Co-Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) issued the following statement today after the Trump administration announced its revised NAFTA proposal:

“Any new trade agreement needs to raise American wages, stop the outsourcing of jobs, and include strong enforcement measures for labor and environmental protections. President Trump campaigned on those promises. Now we’ll find out whether his actions match up to his rhetoric on trade. I will closely scrutinize the administration’s proposal and look forward to meeting with Rhode Island stakeholders to discuss its impact before it is considered in Congress."
