PAWTUCKET – U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01) issued the following statement after his re-election to Congress:

“The people of Rhode Island have spoken. With a clear voice, we have let it be known that we do not want another four years of Donald Trump dividing our country and leading us down a dangerous road. It is time to change course. After four long years of turmoil and strife, Rhode Islanders are ready to bring our country together and heal the wounds that Donald Trump has opened.

“There is no limit to what Americans can achieve when we are united. We can turn the tide against the pandemic. We can build back better with an economy that rewards hard work and gives everyone a fair chance, deliver racial justice, ensure our veterans get the benefits they’ve earned, take on the challenge of climate change, and protect LGBTQ+ Americans from discrimination.”

“I want to thank the working men and women of our state for giving me the opportunity tonight to continue fighting for the values we share. Whether you voted early, by mail, or in-person today, you helped show the world that our democracy can withstand any challenge – foreign, domestic, and even a deadly pandemic.” “Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. Serving as your representative is a privilege for which I am eternally grateful.”
