Cicilline Statement on Dems Taking Back U.S. House

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

PROVIDENCE – Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC) Co-Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) issued the following statement tonight:

“The American people delivered a clear message to Washington tonight. They are sick and tired of the Republican Party’s reckless agenda to cut taxes for the rich, take away access to health care for the middle class, and let corruption run wild. Working people want a government that works for the people of this great country.”

“That’s what they’re going to get when Democrats take back the gavel in January. We will get to work on Day One creating jobs rebuilding our infrastructure, bringing down the cost of prescription drugs, and cracking down on any politician who abuses their public office. Democrats are ready to deliver results for the people.”

“President Trump needs to meet us where the American people are. If he does, we can make real progress on the most challenging issues of our time. If the President chooses instead to pursue the same divisive policies that have defined his time in office, then he will miss another opportunity to move America forward.”

“Regardless of his decision, Democrats will continue fighting for the people with new policies and new ideas that are worthy of the folks we serve.”
