Cicilline Statement on CAR Resolution Passage

WASHINGTON – Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement today after his bipartisan bill (H. Res. 387) condemning continued violence against civilians by armed groups in the Central African Republic passed the U.S. House of Representatives:

 

“While CAR has made significant process toward democracy over the past few years, the continued support of the United States and international partners is key to achieving long-lasting peace. I’m proud that this bill reaffirming our support for CAR, for the ongoing United Nations and international peacekeeping efforts, and for the full implementation of the Khartoum Peace Agreement passed the House today with overwhelming bipartisan support. I thank Congressman Jeff Fortenberry and my colleagues for their support of this important bill.”
