Cicilline, Barragán Placing Bet on World Series

Tuesday, October 23, 2018

WASHINGTON – As the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers prepare for Game One of the 2018 World Series, U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) and U.S. Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán (D-CA) are raising the stakes with a friendly wager on the outcome.

If the Red Sox capture their fourth World Series title in 14 years, Cicilline will present Barragán with a David Ortiz jersey to wear for a day on Capitol Hill – Barragán would also congratulate the Red Sox on their victory during a speech on the House floor.

In the event that the Dodgers emerge victorious with their sixth World Series win, Cicilline will be obligated to wear a jersey of Barragán’s choosing and give a congratulatory floor speech.

“Like all of Red Sox Nation, I am thrilled that we will once again have the chance to cheer our team on in the World Series this year,” said Cicilline. “Go Sawx!”

“I have been a loyal fan of the Dodgers ever since I was a little girl. I used to watch games with my dad and I hold those memories near and dear to my heart,” said Rep. Barragán. “I’m excited for the World Series and can’t wait to beat the Red Sox. Let’s go, Dodgers!”
