PAWTUCKET, RI – The Alliance for Retired Americans has announced their endorsement of Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), who is running for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Congressman Cicilline has proven that he will always look out for retirees in Rhode Island and Washington. He has earned a lifetime 100% pro-retiree score in the Alliance’s annual Congressional Voting Record,” said Richard Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans. “Our 12,000 members in his district trust him to keep fighting to expand and protect our hard-earned Social Security and Medicare benefits. Congressman Cicilline has always been on the front lines working to lower the prices older Americans pay for prescription drugs. We are proud to endorse him."

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare PAC also announced their support of Cicilline for re-election to serve the people of the First District of Rhode Island in Congress.

“Seniors have been the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.  Eight out of ten deaths from COVID in the U.S. have been in adults 65 years old and older.  Congressman Cicilline has been on the front lines in the U.S. House of Representatives to ensure that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are protected and improved to help seniors survive this pandemic,” said Max Richtman, President & CEO of The Committee to Protect Social Security & Medicare. “We need David Cicilline to keep fighting for us and that’s why the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare urges Rhode Islanders to re-elect Congressman Cicilline.”

Cicilline is fighting to protect Rhode Island’s seniors and ensure that they have access to quality health care, affordable prescription drugs, a secure retirement, safe housing, and important services.

In Congress, David has introduced legislation to re-establish the House Select Committee on Aging to study challenges facing our seniors and ensure Congress is doing everything in its power to support older Americans. David has also been a strong advocate for the Social Security 2100 Act, which would help strengthen the Social Security Trust while improving the Cost of Living Adjustment Formula. Cicilline is also working hard to improve access to Medicare and expand coverage to include a wider range of services.

“I’m honored to be supported by the Alliance for Retired Americans and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare PAC,” said Cicilline. “Our seniors have earned the right to enjoy their retirement years with dignity and security. I will continue to fight in Congress to protect Medicare, Social Security, and ensure our seniors have the services and support they need to live active and fulfilling lives.”

Cicilline is seeking re-election to represent Rhode Island’s First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. This year’s general election falls on Tuesday, November 3rd.
