U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) will hold a town hall for veterans August 13th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to discuss details of a new law approved last week to increase veterans' access to care at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Captain Elwood J. Euart Post in Pawtucket. The town hall meeting will also provide the opportunity for constituents to learn more about the services Congressman Cicilline’s Pawtucket office can offer for accessing veterans’ benefits, Social Security, Medicare, and more.
Last week, President Obama signed legislation, which Cicilline supported, to reform the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs into law. This bill makes important reforms to the VA system to ensure that veterans are provided quality medical care in a timely manner. It provides $17 billion to the VA to help veterans avoid long waits, hire more doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel, and increases the number of VA clinics around the country.
