PAWTUCKET – Shortly after conservatives on the Supreme Court once again ruled 5-4 to let corporations use binding arbitration clauses to override state law and block employees from pursuing class action claims, House Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman David N. Cicilline (RI-01) announced plans to hold hearings on the impact of arbitration clauses on working people, as well as the ways Congress can step in to protect workers and consumers.

Cicilline issued the following statement today:

“It is disappointing that the Supreme Court is taking the side of big corporations once again. This ruling undermines the rights of working people to band together and hold corporations accountable. It’s just wrong.”

“The Antitrust Subcommittee will promptly hold hearings and take action to end the practice of binding arbitration. This is a critical step towards restoring the rule of law and giving working people the tools they need to hold corporations accountable.”
