BARRINGTON - U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01) has received the strong endorsement of the Barrington Democratic Town Committee.
"The Barrington Democratic Town Committee appreciates that while leading the fight for the core Democratic principles that we hold dear, the Congressman remains accessible, responsive and committed to his constituents," said Chairwoman Pam Lauria.
During his time in Congress, Cicilline has emerged as a leading voice for reinvigorating American manufacturing, enhancing job training and education opportunities, ensuring access to affordable health care, and securing the future of Medicare and Social Security. He has consistently delivered results for Rhode Island, securing more than $240 million in grants and appropriations since January 2017. Cicilline advocated directly with FEMA to ensure the Barrington Fire Department received a $500,000 grant last year to hire more firefighters.
Following the 2016 general election, the full House Democratic Caucus elected Cicilline to serve as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communication Committee (DPCC). In this role, as a member of the House Democratic Leadership, Cicilline gives Rhode Island its strongest voice in the House in at least a generation. Cicilline is the first Rhode Islander with a seat at the House Democratic Leadership table since Patrick J. Kennedy served as Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from 1999 until 2001.
“The Barrington Democratic Town Committee is doing great work to advance real solutions for the challenges facing Rhode Island today,” said Cicilline. “I’m proud to receive their endorsement. I look forward to continuing to work with the people of Barrington to fight for good public schools, an end to gun violence, full Net Neutrality, and greater opportunity for the people of our great state.”
Cicilline is seeking re-election to represent Rhode Island’s First Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Democratic primary will take place Wednesday, September 12th. This year’s general election falls on Tuesday, November 6th.
The Barrington Democratic Town Committee works up and down the ballot to elect Democratic candidates who will fight for the issues important to Rhode Island in local, state, and federal offices.
